Transcript of Acceptance Speech for Steuben County Hall of Fame

Hi, folks.

00:02

I'm Duane Eddy, and I'm here to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for inducting me into the Steuben County Hall of Fame.

00:14

I've had lots of honors in my career.

00:17

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Musicians Hall of Fame, won a Grammy, this, that, and the other.

00:23

But this is near to my heart because I was born in Corning, as you all know.

00:30

And the first question I get through the years is where were you born?

00:35

And I say Corning, and they look and they think for a minute and it sounds familiar.

00:39

And I said, you know, where they make that beautiful glass.

00:42

Oh, yes, yes, I know.

00:45

Yes, Corning.

00:46

Oh, right.

00:47

I've got some of that, they'll say sometimes.

00:50

And so it's been as much of an honor for me to say I'm from Corning.

00:57

As it might be for Corning to say I'm from there.

01:01

So anyway, I wanted just wanted to personally thank each and every one of you for this great honor and and thank Frank Acomb for bringing it to your attention.

01:16

And oh, we were down there a while back.

01:20

That reminds me, I was down there and and that street you have the Main St.

01:25

with all the shops, it's just.

01:27

Beautiful.

01:28

I wish there was some way to get national attention to that because people would flock there, I think, because it's such a great place.

01:35

A lot of beautiful, lovely boutique shops and everything else, great restaurants and another reason for me to be proud of where I was born.

01:47

And so anyway, thank you.

01:51

I won't take up too much of your time.

01:53

I just wanted to be sure and know that I'm.

01:57

That you know that I'm very grateful for this honor.

02:00

And thank you, thank you, thank you.
